In honor of the recent beach weather, and the fact that Sports Illustrated realized long ago that men are interested in reading about two things (sports and sex), I decided to put together my ranking of the top 10 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue covers. Should you not agree, then make your way down to the comment section and fire away.

10-Yvette & Yvonne Sylvander (1976)

In the second decade of the swimsuit issue, SI teased every man’s fantasy by putting twins on the cover.



9-Heidi Klum (1998)

Halfway through college, this issue arrived in my mailbox one day. Upon receipt I proclaimed, “Hello cleavage!”



8-Kathy Ireland (1992)

In 1992, Irishmen across the globe raised a pint to this native of California. Little did they know that Kathy’s best cover was yet to come.



7-Tyra Banks (1997)

With curves that not even a Porsche could handle, Tyra Banks was one of my favorites. That was until she got her own TV show and forced me to dust off the mute button.



6-Petra Nemcova (2003)

SI played their cards right with this cover, making us all think that the camera man got there just a second too late. Or was it a second too early?



5-Kathy Ireland, Elle Macpherson, Rachel Hunter aka The Dream Team (1994)

Were they past their prime? You betcha, but with Elle Macpherson shouldering the load I didn’t seem to mind.



4-Elle Macpherson (1986)

I’m pretty sure that in 1986 girls weren’t supposed to wear swimsuits that looked like this. But hey, I’m not complaining.



3-Marisa Miller (2008)

Marisa might be on her world tour promoting herself as the next big supermodel, but that’s not enough to give her the top spot in this countdown. Kudos to SI for the strategic bead placement, but I would have opted for pasties with Dan Patrick’s face printed on them. I hear Dan loves the beach.



2-Christie Brinkley (1980)

Long before Christie Brinkley decided that she was going to sell us an expensive coffee table called the “Total Gym”, she sent America into a frenzy with this cover. If you ask me, those clown faced silicon Barbies in Vegas can’t even hold Christie’s bikini bottom.



1-Elle Macpherson (1988)

Three covers in the top ten means one thing, a dynasty. Elle Macpherson tops out the top spot in our countdown leaving us wanting to tug at our her swimsuit.
