Marcus Lee Mattox, 46, of Jacksonville, was arrested by Gainesville Police Officer Michael Maresca at 2:30 a. m. Sunday and charged with attempted armed robbery.
Witnesses said Mattox walked up to a Gainesville man in the parking lot of the Kangaroo store at 13th and W. University Ave. and asked for money.
When the man refused to hand over any cash, Mattox reportedly threw off the sleeping bag he had been wearing as a cape and pulled the screwdriver from the waistband of his pants. The man said Mattox claimed he knew the man had money and had better “give it up.”
This is news. They sell Kangaroos in Florida? Well sign me up, I’ll take a dozen. Hell, I’ll even train them to box and we can have a pay per view special with Michael Vick when he gets out the clinker. I’ll bill it as “Hell after the Cell”, and Vick will have to wear a blindfold while fighting a dozen trained Kangaroos.
