Maureen Trickett, an event organizer for 8minuteDating.com, had an idea based on all the hype surrounding younger men dating older women. She decided last year to plan an event specifically for that demographic – a night of speed dating for women-of-a-certain-age and the boyish men who love them.

Trickett posted the event online, and women quickly signed up. But the men – they were slow to show interest. After only six men registered, the event was canceled.

When I read this article I literally laughed. This dating expert is completely misguided as to the on goings Cougar culture.

First off, no self respecting guy would ever go to meet a Cougar at speed dating. If you’re looking for a Cougar that comes with bragging rights, you find them absolutely plastered at one of Boston’s finest drinking establishments.

Secondly, younger men don’t want to “date” a Cougar. They want to rail her senseless, snap a few cell phone photos as evidence, and call her a cab.

Finally, Demi Moore is an anomaly. She might be 80 years old (or whatever her age is) but this woman has been a living version of Benjamin Button since she signed up to do Striptease. Every guy knows that your typical Cougar does not look like Demi Moore, hence why they love to meet them at bars.

In closing, I’d like to say that the state of Cougar Nation is perfectly fine, and you shouldn’t be mislead by the Boston Globe. Carry on.
