The new rage on Facebook is the Pick Your 5 application. You pick five things and make a list. Music, food, websites, chicks, beer, etc.. It’s only half as gay as the “25 things about me” meme that everyone was posting, probably because it’s not quite as self absorbed.
While most people post a favorite list, ESPN’s Mike Hill decided that he would post a list of things he hates, and basically shit all over the city of Boston. That’s right, his five least favorite sports teams are the Red Sox, Red Sox, Red Sox, Red Sox and Patriots.
He tries to sugar coat this by saying that he likes the players, but he hates the teams. Why doesn’t he stop pussy footing around and say it…he hates Boston fans.

To be fair Don, I’d bet the majority of people outside the Boston area hate Boston fans. One can only take so much smugness and just general irritation. It seems like if you talk to anyone from Boston for more than 5 minutes they mention “da Sawx, da Pats*, or da Celts” and won’t shut up about it.
The irony in this post, of course, is that ESPN has shoved the Boston sports scene down the general sports fans’ throats so much over the past 10 years that I would say they are at least 50% responsible for the overall nation’s hate. This history of overt racism probably doesn’t help much either.
* only in recent years and recent success has the average Boston fan cared about the Patriots. When they aren’t doing well Boston doesn’t give a shit, much like the city’s feelings about the Bruins.
Didn’t ESPN do a poll on the most hated sports city? I would assume that Boston would win in a landslide.
