Don Chavez

Since this is my first post, I thought I’d give you all a quick background, a little look in my rear view mirror — but fell free to look at my rear if you can’t see my mirror, I don’t mind. I’m 21 years old. I moved to Sunny California in June of 2007 from rainy Oregon. As gorgeous as Oregon is, I was slowly drowning to death from all of the foul weather – which happens to a lot of people there. Plus, there are more modeling opportunities in southern California.

So I packed up my things and moved. Pretty much just like that. Found a place to live, found a day job, got work as a model, and then in March of 2008 I was involved in a motorcycle accident and had to have my leg amputated as a result.

Gees, is that a lot of life changing events in a short span of time or what? It’s not exactly helpful to a modeling career to have a limb removed. It’s not like you can cover that with make-up or anything.

In case you’re wondering, I didn’t lose my entire leg – they had to take my left leg off about an inch and a half above my knee. So I basically have my thigh and that’s it. Hmmm – that’s a positive way to look at it, I don’t have one leg, I have two thighs. God I’m starting to crave Kentucky Fried Chicken with all of this talk of thighs!

Anyway, if I don’t say so myself, I had a really nice pair of legs — now, being the positive person that I am, I have a killer pair of thighs – and I really do. I also now qualify for a lifetime 50% discount on all shoes. What a deal. Would rather have my leg back, thank you.

Having one leg is harder than you probably think it is. Plus, having big boobs and one leg is a shitty combination – as I tend to hop around my apartment more than I should. You don’t see bunny rabbits with big boobs, right? Well after a few drinks, I might have seen that once. Fortunately, I’ve always had a good sense of humor and am able to laugh at myself – and that certainly comes in handy, let me tell ya.

Being a young woman and a model with one leg has been a pretty wild ride so far – and I’m only a year and three or so months into it. I’m not shy about my leg. I don’t let it stop me from being me. Plus, it makes for some crazy experiences that even I still laugh about months later — which I’ll be sharing with you in my upcoming columns, plus all sorts of other tantalizing tidbits of my life. I’ll take you all with me in this crazy ride that’s my life — the life of hot chick with one leg. Or should we rename that to “the life of a hot chick with two thighs”? Or “the life of a bunny rabbit girl with big boobs?” God, now I have a headache.
