For this weeks article, I’d like to try something a little different, and discuss something that I’m pretty passionate about. Health care. So for this week, you’ll just need to leave my boobs in your imagination for a bit. I promise I won’t get all serious on you every week, just now and then. It won’t hurt, I promise. Of course the last time I heard that I was at the dentist, and it really did hurt – a lot. A dental visit I had to pay for out of my own pocket by the way – no insurance, as it costs an arm and a leg, and I can’t afford to part ways with any more of my limbs. I’ll keep it short this week, so not to worry.

Editor’s note: if you would rather have Jessica just write a couple hundred words about her boobs bouncing, just let her know in the comment section. The format on this site is random, so I really don’t care what she writes about. Personally on the health care front, I think the government should front the bill for any woman that wants to upgrade her boob salad from a small to extra-large.

If you’ve read any of my tweets (on Twitter, in case you don’t know what that is), you’ve probably already noticed I care about health care. How can we not care about it? Regardless of whatever your opinion is on the subject, be heard. Nothing worse than those folks who don’t get involved in anything, then complain later about whatever it is they didn’t care enough to get involved in when it mattered.

In case you haven’t noticed, the health care system in this country is broken. Regardless of the solution to the problem, I think we all should be able agree that health care is unraveling in the U.S. Many millions of people are totally uninsured, boat loads of people who are lucky enough to have health insurance can’t really afford paying for it and are a step away from losing it, and the premiums for insurance are going through the roof, and quickly at that. Needless to say coverage is decreasing — I don’t think I’m alone in getting letters from my insurance company saying this or that hospital is “no longer part of their network”. Pretty soon my local vet will be the only “provider in my plan”.

Regardless of the solution, if you can’t even accept that the health care system is broken in this country, I’m afraid you fall into one or more of a couple of categories. (1) You’re employed by a pharmaceutical company, (2) You’re employed by a health insurance company, (3) Your a lobbyist for a pharmaceutical company or health insurance company, (4) You work for the US government and have one of those “Cadillac” plans, or (5) You’ve got your head buried so deeply in the sand you’re munching on won-tons from China on other side of your hole.

We can argue all day if a government plan is or isn’t the answer, or let the “free market” do it’s thing, etc. But there is a serious problem, and it needs a serious solution – and fast. I frankly don’t really care if the government or private industry runs everything, as long as everyone who wants it can have access to quality health care – at prices they can actually afford. And please don’t tell me that’s the case now — you can just go to the ER, right? Those two letters mean something, right? E – Emergency, in case you’ve forgotten. If you really believe that everyone can just go to the ER for whatever health issue they have, then I’m afraid you’re a category (5) person.

So, please, get involved. Although I’d certainly like to see more detail on how it will be paid for, I like where the Obama plan is headed. If you don’t like what you hear coming out Washington DC on health care, then by all means, contact your local representative that represents you in DC propose something better.
