LeBron James and the Miami Heat won their first national championship last night, immediately granting some legitimacy to a career that had been struggling for some over the past two years. He has the ring to back up the trophies and commercials, and perhaps even the flopping. Every basketball fan that wasn’t from Miami seemed to be railing against the King and company, but to no avail.
What does this mean for LeBron’s character? Will he become insufferably entitled and consider himself some of the greats? I’m guessing “yes.” LeBron has never had a terribly strong constitution, so this year’s championship should lift his already enormous ego up to stratospheric heights as he goes on to defend his title.
Dammit. I was really hoping the Heat would strike out.
On the plus side though, the Oklahoma City Sonics lost.
