Not a literal ton, but he wasn’t far off. Tying his own record, professional competitive eater Joey Chestnut took down 68 hot dogs in 10 minutes, which is amazingly ridiculous and disgusting, but also sort of impressive, all things considered. Chestnut got $10,000 for his effort in addition to 68 complimentary hot dogs (what a deal!)

The event was held, as it is every year, at Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs in Coney Island, New York. Chestnut was able to smoke the competition by a wide margin, with runner-up Tim Janus taking down a measly 52 hot dogs, which is pretty much just a light snack for the likes of me. Chestnut was disappointed that he wasn’t able to give the people a new record, but he still ate 68 hot dogs, which I guess is something.
